3 things I learnt (Oct. 18)

skyelarlee

Talking about the weather can be boring, but I find that it can be fascinating in the DinnerTalk chats! On Saturday I was in a chat where the local temperatures for those joining in were: +30'C (Columbia), -18'C (the Arctic), + 11'C (Toronto), +11'C (the Netherlands) and +4'C (here in British Columbia).

And on to what I learnt this week:

1. Parrots can fall in love too! In a recent chat, we heard a story about a domesticated parrot (she had been with her owner for 6 years), who was courted by a wild parrot that would come and visit her. The owner let the lady parrot's wings grow out and after a month or so of courting, the lady parrot flew off with the male parrot! She still comes back to say hi to her former owner from time to time too!

2. Hut to hut hiking in the French alpine comes with great food! Did you know that the huts commonly serve four course meals?! As someone who doesn't cook much, the idea of having a fancy meal prepared for you at the end of a long day of hiking sounds fantastic!

3. Weet-Bix are New Zealand's number one breakfast cereal. I had to Google what Canada's number one breakfast cereal is (none have that particular title, that I know of), but Amazon.ca says Honey Nut Cheerios are Canada's best selling breakfast cereal. What is your country's breakfast cereal?!

Have a great week!
