3 things I learnt (Feb. 21)

skyelarlee

Fruit was a big topic of this week's chats, and fascinating to learn more about. (Though as normal, none of the topic questions this week had anything to do with fruit!)

1. The Durian fruit, native to southeast Asia, is a particularly stinky fruit! The smell is so bad that a rotting Durian fruit once caused an emergency evacuation of a Melbourne college library, over fears of a gas leak! You can read the TIME article here. They are also banned in many public places (i.e., hotels, public transport), due to their smell.

2. The Durian is also known as the 'king of fruits', but we quickly learnt that that is a country based opinion. In India, it is the mango; in the US it is the apple; and in Canada it is the blueberry. Do you know what it is in your country?!

3. And lastly, on the topic of fruit, be careful with grapes! Spiders like to hang out in the bunches, and can survive transport. So remember to wash them when you take them home!

'til next week!
