3 things I learnt (Dec. 7)

Something that has come up a couple of times in our chats is when you rent an apartment or house, what is included in the rental? I have since learnt that the answers are very location based! The range is everything (including forks) to nothing (not even a fridge)! So that leads me to the first thing I learnt this week:

1. In Colombia, rental properties don't come with washing machines, and laundromats are not common. Instead, people rent washing machines! A person will deliver a washing machine (including bringing it up many flights of stairs if you don't live on the ground floor) for a block of time. It works out to about $4 USD for 4 hours. You can even do this weekly!

2. The hypothetical idea of being able to fly came up a couple of times - but then I found out that the technology is available! In the UK, search and rescue teams are testing out the feasibility of jetpacks which allow them to quickly fly to an injured person. You can check out the video here:

3. There is such a thing as a long haired hypoallergenic cat! I had assumed that the only hypoallergenic cats out there were the ones without fur (Sphynx), but there are in fact 7 breeds of hypoallergenic cats. We got to meet two Siberian cats this week who are absolutely beautiful! If you are curious, here is a list of hypoallergenic cat breeds: https://www.petsecure.com.au/pet-care/7-hypoallergenic-cats-for-people-who-are-allergic-but-love-felines/

'til next week!
